Meet the Clinical Trials Team

Clinical Trials Director

Cheryl London, DVM, PhD, ACVIM (Oncology) is a Research Professor at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center.  She has an active laboratory research program centered on comparative and translational oncology and is involved in the training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.  She has recently joined the Clinical Trials Office at Cummings School as its Director to expand operations and enhance capacity and breadth of trials performed in client owned animals.  Dr. London was the Shackelford Professor of Veterinary Medicine at OSU for 11 years before joining  Cummings School. Prior to her time at OSU, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences at the University of California, Davis.

Dr. London earned her DVM at Cummings School, completed her Residency in Medical Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her in Immunology at Harvard University, where she was also a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pathology.

Clinical Trials Intern

Abbey is a native of New England, graduated from Boston University and spent 2.5 years doing developmental neurobiology research at Children's Hospital Boston before moving to Colorado. She received her DVM from Colorado State University and completed a 1-year rotating internship at Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Irvine, CA; followed by a medical oncology internship at The Oncology Service in Northern Virginia. Here at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center, she works specifically as the Oncology Clinical Trials Intern as a point person for oncology clinical trials, recruitment and care of patients throughout the trial time frame. Outside of work, Abbey enjoys running, cycling, hiking, traveling and spending time with her family.

Clinical Trials Coordinator

Diane is a certified veterinary technician (CVT) with more than 35 years of experience in the field of animal medicine. After receiving her degree in veterinary technology from Becker Junior College, she spent 16 years working in private practice at Littleton Animal Hospital and Abbott Animal Hospital prior to joining the team at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 1998. She has held numerous roles during her tenure at Cummings School, from treating critically ill and emergency patients in the ICU and ER, performing hemodialysis treatments on renal service patients to being responsible for the Tufts University blood bank. Now as a clinical trial technician for the Department of Clinical Sciences, she spends her days working on the various clinical trials.  This work includes behind the scenes organizational work to help make the experience as stress-free for the patients as well as their owners. Outside of work, she enjoys sewing, reading and spending time with her family.  She has owned golden retrievers, cats and a rabbit over the years, and currently has 2 cats, Ralph and Marty.

Clinical Trials Technician

Michelle is a certified veterinary technician (CVT) with more than 8 years of experience in the field of animal medicine. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Mount Ida College in 2014, she spent almost 3 years working at a veterinary oncology hospital treating cancer patients with radiation and chemotherapy. Michelle joined the Clinical Trials Office team at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center back in May 2017. Michelle oversees all the oncology clinical trials and helps with the other trials when needed. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cycling, hiking, going to the beach and spending time with her family including her two rescue dogs, Nellie and Forrest.


Clinical Trials Technician

Kim is a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with a BS in Veterinary Science from Becker College and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Texas School of Public Health. She has over 12 years’ experience as a CVT and she worked in Tufts Anesthesia Department from 2003 to 2012. She has been certified as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (Anesthesia/Analgesia) since 2008. She has worked extensively with small animals but also with large animals and exotics. After leaving Tufts, she moved with her husband to San Antonio where she completed graduate school. The family then moved to Seoul, Korea where they lived for over 2 years. Kim has two dogs, a 3-year-old son, and another one on the way. In her free time, she enjoys travel, reading, yoga, crafts and spending time with family and friends.
