Computed tomography (CT)

Computed Tomography (CT)

Computed tomography (CT) is available for use in equine, farm animal and camelid patients. CT provides images of the bone and soft tissue structures of the head and legs. It is commonly used at the Cummings Veterinary Medical Center at Tufts to assess sinus and dental problems. Bone infections in foals are more readily diagnosed using CT than regular radiographs.

The Hospital for Large Animals is one of the few hospitals that have the ability to CT horses and other large patients. The facility has a specially designed and constructed table that allows staff to position horses to image their heads and legs. A team of clinicians, radiologists and anesthesiologists works together to utilize this powerful and versatile diagnostic tool.

Do you have emergency?

Emergency service at the Hospital for Large Animals is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After business hours, it is essential to call before your arrival so our staff can prepare what is necessary. The emergency service will take your name and number and a veterinarian will return your call.
