About the Behavior Service

What happens during a behavior consultation?

Behavior consultations are 1.5 – 2 hours in length at the Animal Behavior Clinic at Foster Hospital for Small Animals in North Grafton, Mass. During the consultation, the doctor will review your patient questionnaire, gather additional details about your pet’s problem, and discuss the diagnosis and treatment plan in depth. Treatment plans may include targeted behavior modification, environmental changes, and/or medication or nutritional supplements. If needed, additional medical diagnostics may be recommended. Following the consultation, you will receive a written summary of your pet’s customized treatment plan by email.

Phone and email support is available for 4 months following your consultation so that you and your pet can remain on track with treatment.

What kind of behavior problems do we see at the Animal Behavior Clinic?

The Behavior Clinic at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals successfully treats many common animal behavior problems, including:

  • Aggression directed at people or other animals;
  • Anxiety issues, including separation anxiety and thunderstorm phobia;
  • Compulsive disorders such as tail chasing, shadow chasing, flank sucking and wool sucking;
  • Inappropriate elimination issues, including urine spraying;
  • Excessive barking, digging, nipping and jumping on people.

What is the cost of a consultation?

The cost of an initial consultations is $515.00. This does not include medication, or additional medical diagnostics such as lab work.

The cost of a recheck consultation is $225.00.
